My name is Dave Kaczynski I am A jewelry Designer from Montpelier,Vermont my shop is called "Khaos Designs" . I am Brand New to engraving. Just received some sharpening Jigs and Stones from Steve L a week or so ago.
and I am Almost done reading James Meek's book on the subject.

I wish I had the capitol to invest in some Air Tools and the like; However I am trully Interested in starting from the "old School",where engraving has its roots, and moving towards the Modern Technology".

I Looking for some advice with respect to Hand Engraving Tools or should I say Engraving Tools Using the Push or Hamer and chisel Technique. Any suggestions Where I might get some of the "Long Chisels"I've seen pictures of and heard described by some other hammer and chisel engravers?

I would greatly appreciated any suggestions for a newcomer.
Any other sources of Info, Books, Websites, and feedback would be helpful
Thanks again

Welcome!

You might check out brownells, as they used to sell the belgian style graver handles for hammer and chisel work. i still use these, with the carbalt bits and the Lindsay graver grind almost every day.

You can look for Ngraver Supply, as they manufacture the handles themselves.

"Engraving on precious metals" is a great book for the push engraver artist, as well as "The Jewelery Engraving manual" from Dover publishing.

take care,

Tom

Welcome to the forum.

Some of my experience.

I bought the books that Gravertom mentioned.
The downloadable book which Steve mentioned is actually nearly the same as the above mentioned books, this downloadable book cover more topics in Ciphet(r)s... someone download this book and sell it on ebay. I bought one and later found Steve's link and know I am so stupid to spend the money.
The downloadable book "Art of Engraving" tell you everything in lettering engraving.

2. Steve's video is excellent. Don't miss it!
