This takes me back. I still love monster movies.

Finn,

THe only thing I would say is you need to start using better quality nickels.

As you carving continues to get better you will need to have them on better quality nickels. This is a nice carving and I am sure it will sell for you. But you would get a lot more out of it if the back of it were not worn so badly.

Cool nickle!

The only coins I did wher a 5cent euro conin on wich I traced and lined the letters and a 1 euro coin on wich I engraved a lovely weatboarder.
Later in the supermarket I spent it because they needed small change :banghead:

Love Frankenstein!

Greetings

thank you all for the nice remarks.

and Ray yes i wanted to start or practice with some older coins till i get my skills up. my father has some nice Bufflos maybe 10 of them or so .

i think i will practice on a few more before going for the nice coins.
my ears are off and one is too big and the nose looks ( dont even know how to discribe it ... just wrong)
lol it is cool but very wrong .

in a few years i hope to turn out some $200.00 coins.

You are too good a coin carver to be using poor grade nickels, it,s good to start with poor grade nickels, but your work needs to be carved on a high grade nickels...You can catch xf or au buffalo nickels on ebay for $3 to $5, it,s possible for a coin carving to bring double if it,s carved on a xf or au rather than a poor grade..Keep up the good work...

Great Start.
Looking forward to seeing your next piece.
With regards to your comments about facial structure.
Assuming you have a ball vice, get in the habit of rotating the coin constantly to check spatial relationships. If you have to push things back to achieve a proper nose then carve things back. Full frontal views are very hard to do. Try a 3/4 you will have more apparent depth by undercutting and effectively more room to work.

Do go for a better nickel to start with.

My 2 cents since this is frankenstein does not matter what the face looks like. However the problem with the nose is that the nostrals are to pronounced. Good Job:cheers2:

Your nickels are low grade, so don't make them lower by wiping out the date.

Even out your stipple. No ripples.
