Default Lindsay Graver Sharpening System

I,ve been using Steve sharpening system for about 5 or 6 weeks and all i can say is Wow...I wasn,t sure how accurate it would be, but it,s right on the money every time i use it and so easy to use, even for a old hillbilly like me...It sure is nice to be able to take a graver in the rough and have it ready to use in just a few mins..I highly recommend this sharpener to new engravers as well as the old timers..

I'd like to second that. I've been sharpening various edge tools all my professional life and although Steve's system takes a novel approach to the matter, the system works extremely well.

The thought and designing that went into the production of this kit is commendable too; there's even a polyethylene board to place the whole kit on to reduce wear and to ensure the templates run smoothly. There's also a spare thumb screw should you ever require it.

The quality of all the components is second to none.

The whole kit packs flat into a zip-lock bag and is a heck of a lot more convenient and transportable than any power hone.

Was that OK Steve?...

...joke! Just a satisfied customer.

It is an amazing tool. I would recommend this as a first purchase for any new engraver.

The first tool I sharpened with this system actually improved my engraving right away. I would not have believed it would make that much difference until seeing it myself. It make touch ups so much quicker that I am not tempted to keep cutting when the tool need attention. This also results in better work.

"Lindsay Engraving tools and fixtures... Superior tools, superior products, for those who wish to be superior engravers..."

"Lindsay Engraving tools and fixtures; The shortest, smoothest pathway to success."

"The Lindsay sharpening system... There is no point in using any other."

Take care,

Tom

I managed to resharpen my one and only Lindsay point, and build a flat from scratch using the jigs. I'm very impressed, these tools are so simple to use and a complete necessity for me where I am with no space and little available tooling. I have all I need with the PC and the sharpening templates and the good advice from this site. I learned how to make the flat from a thread here and it worked the first time.

Same here. I got it, used it, ended up with my first graver ever, and cut some lines ever without slipping or sliding. As my Asian neighbor tends to say 'piece like pie'!

I want to say I recieved Steve's sharpening system today. I would have to say that anyone that doesn't want to spend a lot of time sharpening should have this system. It is great, no wobbles, no pain. It just does the job.
I thank Steve for the sharing of his wonderful inventions, and thank God his parents passed on such wonderful genes that created the inventive person he is
Get one and make your day.

Hi all, This is the first time I have ever posted anything on any forum, but I just had to have my say about Steve's sharpening system. I've been engraving for over 30 years & I'm still learning more all the time & I know that my learning process would have been made a hundred times easier if I had a system like this to help me sharpen my gravers. I will tell anyone who asks, that this is the first thing they should buy if they want to start engraving. getting a graver sharpened & then keeping it sharp is probably the most important thing you need to do to be an engraver. The Lindsay sharpening system is the way to do that all the time.

Hi Deland, There would be no limit to the maximum length. The minimum length would be 1.5 inches. Although, I suppose an adapter could be made if someone wanted to sharpen one shorter than 1.5"

I forgot this system whenn I ordered my Lindsay last week
I have the dual angle grinding gadget from grs but each time I put the graver in the fitting it sits just a litle bit different. I broke the point of the Lindsay graver the other day trying some bucherwork on rvs. Have not found the right angle's again yet.

I will order the system soon, but want to know what else I should not forget, and this is a hard task. I'm promoting the system among goldsmiths though.
I think only looking at it show's the benefit's!

Does Steve allso sell co2 cylinder's? For the price of one here in Holland I can have three in the USA.

See ya,

Daniel

Blue, where did you find the thread for making a flat graver with the Lindsay sharpening fixture? I haven't seen it and it would be interesting to read.
