Good googlie mooglie! That is beautiful. This is WHY i'm here to learn this. I would give my eye teeth to achieve that level.... Can I ask how long a project like this would take to cut?

Absolutely fantastic. In a world dominated by traditional scroll engraving it's very refreshing to see something so different yet so beautiful.

Don't miss the sculpted thistle. It's almost unnoticed, but wow what a brilliant design touch.

Absolutely fabulous. I'm wondering, are you partridge hyper-colored to get that dark of appearance? I see most of the other background holding that dark color. I'm looking forward to mastering your bulino point. I have recently purchased the jig. I feel like my material removal is more like removing tough mud even though I am well sharpened. Perhaps mild steel is not bulino friendly. So many variables to the engraving arts. Thanks for such inspiring piece. bronzeo

The Black Grouse were engraved with a push graver, the rest was hammer and chisel.
Some steels are better to work on than others, try to find one that's user friendly.

Phil,

This is the most wonderful and subtle inclusion of celtic influence I have ever seen, and as ever, masterfully executed. Yes, it resonates strongly with the Book of Kells velums, yet you have given the patterns your own unique stamp. A splendid layout in every way.

Phil,
Ron had me cut my first borders and scrolls last Sat. Comparing that work to what you have posted here makes me want to cry. Your art is nothing short of amazing, and your craftsmanship is even amazing-er!! Tnx! for sharing it!

Hi Phil, Needless to say, beautiful work! Unfortunately, I have only been exposed to celtic designs that were sort of geometric in nature and, to my eye, not that attractive. Your work here is absolutely fabulous, however. Even more impressive is the deep relief carving. Very nice, indeed. Jeff
