I took a pic of my ipod "touch" and my PC, I thought they looked good together...

Barry,

I am itching to get both of those items, but enjoying my foot control AG presently!

Have you used the iTouch on your travels, and do you have any comments on its usefulness on the road. Heard some scary stories about the phone bill cost of iPhone when roaming Europe, but that iTouch appears to work in any hotel lobby with free wifi?

best

Barry Lee Hands, Dateline Shanghai...
Thanks Rod and Ron. I use a Fuji fine pix S700 for most shooting. I also have a 12 meg fuji finepix f50 which just came out in Japan and is an awesome pocket sized model.
I am writing on the ipod touch from Starbucks in nanjing road west. It is about 10 am here. The connection is weak but doable, I will post some pics of the cams later today, when I get to a better connection.

Receiving you loud and clear via iTouch, Barry!

I hear the touch window is glass, not plastic, so no scratches like on earlier iPods. What about any problems like keeping it clean and clear from coffee or butter while in Starbucks? Does the glass need to stay super clean to retain its electrical sensitivity to finger touch?

Hey Berry
You can use those plastic self cling covers for PDA's on the screen to protect it. They come in various sizes and you should be able to get them where you are at - though the language may be a bit of a problem.

I belive the screen is glass, I keep it and my cell and the fuji f50 in this belt pouch, and it's protected somewhat.

Danny,

I am pretty sure you need to be on the glass screen to have the touch work, we tried a protection sheet as you describe, and it does not work... insulates the electrical contact of your skin properties.

Hi Austin,
My son lived in Japan for six months last year, teaching english.
He wrote this in his blog he was doing about his time in Japan.

Japanese symbols gone wrong - (Sorry can't post that one..)

The symbol on your right, meaning stupid, is one of the many Kanji characters that you will see on the apparel and skin of North Americans, a popular fashion fad that began in the mid to late 90's. Unfortunately the fad demanded a strong grasp of the Chinese/Japanese writing system, Kanji, in order to accurately select the appropriate symbol. As a result, there are many excitingly inappropriate Kanji symbols walking around North America that indicate wonderfully derogatory statements about the people who bear them.

So I was wondering what the symbol on the case says?

Jim

Austin, the stamp on your leather case is beautiful.
Jim, may be we can define it as "Chinese Monogram", just like the western world use the alphabet to fit into the circle, this kind of Chinese Calligraphy use a Chinese character to fit into a square, this kind of "monogram" always used in Stone Stamp, it is a kind of engraving mostly in stone. This kind of Chinese Calligraphy have a special name but I do not know it's English term! Maybe Austin can name it in English.

There are 4 characters in this "monogram", it's talking about wine, Austin like wine? The Chinese is reaing from right to left, from up to down, so the first character "right top corner" is "4", the second character "right lower corner" is ."XXX"..Oh my poor english....it is a Chinese unit to measure the volumn, i.e. the amount of wine, something like "onze". I cannot read the third letter, maybe it is the name/kind of wine,
The last character is "wine" at the lower left corner. The meaning of your monogram is "4 (onze?) of XXX wine".

Thanks for sharing.

Zernike

Iam writing over a heineken from the Big bamboo bar in Shanghai, my Chinese associates tell me the letters mean "the stars" on ancient chinese text. they agree with Zern that the other characters mean "old wine" or "original drink"...

Yes, there are two meaning for "old wine":
200ml of old wine (the wine have been stored for a long long time)
200ml of old wine (the same kind/brand of wine that you used to drink)

is English also the same?
Talk to you later at the "old place" (this forum)

Yes Zern, stored, used to drink, the biblical meaning:alcohol, as opposed to new wine:grape juice and old wine could also mean it is spoiled or lost its flavor.
And Jim, I think it is very tasty...The ipod that is, not the old wine, hehe

Well Jim I am back now, working long hours getting ready for a trip for thanksgiving since the kids all have plans in different places.
it is hard to get the time to travel , but I figure you only live once. I wish I could just pack the work and the Lindsay and take it with me, but dont want to mess with customs, etc.

Don't blame ya on that one. I had it deliver in the USA and took it home
to Canada. I was sweating bullets. I think I was going to tell them it
was a new kind of lighter. But ya know they never asked. :fingerscrossed: The Palm will
stay in the great white north, even during the convention in Reno.
I might bring a couple of blades though.
Have a good time in the Philippines.
