Default Barry Lee Hands engraved Steve Hoel," An Artist's Palette", before and after

The photos:

And the description:

“An Artist’s Palette”

The Steve Hoel Five Color Coke Bottle

Engraved by
Barry Lee Hands

The first collaboration by Steve and Barry since AKI 2009

This stunning vintage medium coke bottle features five color virgin gold inlays on the 416 stainless frame in 24k yellow, antique 23k yellow, 14k pastel green, 18k green and 22k rose gold, executed with fully sculpted raised relief on a sculpted scroll 416 stainless background.

The generous 24k flush line and sculpted leaf borders provide the perfect frame for this interplay of multicolor gold and stainless which surround the Exhibition Grade Australian Silverlip Pearl inlay, which is itself inlaid with Barry’s original “Gilded Pearl” technique featuring nine 24k gold leaves with stems on each side.

The leading edge of the front bolsters are inlaid with 24k gold and set with a brilliant cut diamond.

The Boot blade, of ATS 34, is decorated with Barry’s unique “Burnished Blade” technique, and the spine is decorated with “Burnished Pastel” technique in green, red and yellow gold.

The only knife extant with these three original techniques featured together.

That is absolutely exquisite. I don't believe the inlay in the mother of pearl... and the blade looks just as tasteful... The accenting of the knifemakers mark is really something. Unbelievable.

That really is something else

Most of us would be too scared to even think about scratching on that canvas.

Thanks Jeffrey, and Andre, the sig is on the reverse, and I am not sure I took a pic of that side.
Thanks Andy, below is a closer pic of the detail around the makers name.
David, there are no secrets, but without discretion there is no mystery, and without mystery there is no wonder.
Van you are correct, exclusive is the name of the game.
Thanks Chris, always use the best canvas you can find, and thank you for the comments Mrthe.

I saw many of knives of your engraving, but the knife is my most favorite piece.
The composition, the color combination, and of course the superior engraving techniques...all are wonderful !

Really breath taking knife !

STUNNING work Barry! And I agree, the canvas doesn't get much better than a Hoel interframe.

Thanks for showing it,
Peter

Thanks Riccardo, the background is sculpted after the cavities are excavated for the raised inlays, you have a good eye.
Thanks Kyj, it's one of my favorites also.
Thaks Peter, Steve Hoel is one of the greats, and his coke bottle with boot blade is one of the first true Art Knife designs. A classic that can be reinterpreted in many ways, and still stands the test of time.
