Thanks folks, I decided to inlay fire and safe in 24k gold.

The letters scribed on with a universal pantograph:



cutting them in with a .010 flat:

Interesting geometry on your graver...never thought about that before, but it looks good and I assume it keeps the view clear. I may try that.
